Choosing your overland trip

Finding the right overland trip for you

There are many things to consider when choosing your overland trip.  Some are obvious: location, duration, cost etc. but there are other considerations.

It’s important you establish the total cost of the trip, understand how many people could be on a trip and the percentage of camping vs hotels, as this information can help sway your decision.

I have tried to cover some of the key considerations in the three sections below. If you have information you think should be added, please do contact us.

What should you consider?

There are lots of things to consider when choosing your overland trip and it’s important to look at the small print about a trip.  Some trips have a minimum number they will travel with, and you may not be comfortable spending many weeks with the same 4 faces!

What’s the true cost of an overland trip?

Establishing the true cost of a trip is vital.  I was shocked to spend over £700 on vaccinations and medicines for one trip!   This section provides a list of potential additional expenses that can help you establish if the trip is affordable to you, and hopefully prevent nasty financial surprises!

Group Travel: is it for you?

There is no doubt that group travel has it’s benefits. The people you travel with can make or break a trip.  It’s worth having a think about whether group travel is really for you and this section gives some helpful advice about travelling in a group.
